Colour: The heartwood varies in colour from rich chocolate-brown to a purplish-black. The sapwood is usually narrow, and pale brown in colour. The wood has a fine even texture and a nice coarse grain. Most timbers vary in colour and will change in use with the application of finishes and exposure to light.
Hardness and Stability: 80% as hard as Red Oak. Average stability. The timber is moderately hard, tough, strong and is easily worked. It finishes well and takes an excellent polish.
Installation: Nail Down, Floating or glue down. Suitable over underfloor heating.Allow at least 5-10% for wastage when installing and simply cut out pieces you do not like.
