Wooden Floor Accessories Guide

Wood4Floors stock everything you need for a flawless wooden floor installation. If you’ve never fitted wood flooring before, you may be unsure about what you’ll need to achieve the best finish. Or perhaps you’ve come across some unfamiliar terms you’ve never even heard of, such as a rose or T-bar. This post explains all.

Scotia

Scotia is a rounded l-shaped edging trim used to cover the expansion gap between the flooring and the skirting board. We stock it in MDF (a choice of colours), or solid wood in Oak or Maple. It is pinned to the skirting to avoid damaging the floor.

Nosing

Stair noses are used for stairway installations to give a smooth, finished edge between the riser and tread. They can be screwed or stuck down and are available in oak or walnut in 1m lengths from Wood4Floors.

Roses

Radiator roses fit around pipes to cover expansion holes.

Threshold bars (T-bar)

Used to join two level floor coverings e.g. where wood meets tile or carpet, normally fitted as a threshold for internal doors.

Reducer bars (R-bar)

Equalise the level between two uneven floors. Various heights are available depending on the transitional difference.

Edge bars (L-bar)

Edging bar is used as trim for patio doors, fireplaces, door mat wells etc. It can also be used instead of scotia to cover expansion gaps.
